Gather vs Conveo: an honest side by side

By Mayank Mehta, Founder and CEO, Gather · Published August 18, 2026 · Last updated August 18, 2026 · 8 min read

Short answer: Pick Conveo if you need ai-moderated interviews and your team handles strategy and content downstream. Pick Gather if you want the research to become a model your whole organization queries, and the assets to come off that model instead of being rebuilt by hand every quarter.

Table of contents

The short version

I run Gather, so read this with that in mind. I have tried to be accurate about where Conveo is stronger, and I say so below.

Conveo is a ai-moderated interviews tool. AI-moderated qualitative research for consumer and brand teams. It has a Domain Rating of 44 and 1,078 monthly organic visits according to Ahrefs in August 2026, with 773 referring domains.

Gather is a continuous customer intelligence platform. It runs AI-moderated interviews, then post-trains a Customer Intelligence Model on your corpus and generates the strategy assets and content off that model.

Those are different categories solving different problems. The comparison is only useful once you know which problem you have.

Where we overlap

Both get you closer to real customers than a dashboard or an internal debate. Both are faster than a traditional agency cycle. Both are a clear improvement over the default, which is guessing confidently in a meeting.

If your current alternative is no research at all, either choice moves you forward. The rest of this page is about the difference once you are past that.

Method: how the data is collected

Conveo. AI-moderated qualitative research for consumer and brand teams.

Where it is genuinely strong:

Where I think it falls short:

Gather. A survey returns a number with no reason. A focus group returns a reason with no number you can defend. We run both in the same conversation: the respondent answers the scale, then the AI probes the answer they just gave.

On the qualitative side that means adaptive probing written from what they actually said, laddering past the first answer to the real driver, contradiction chasing when an answer conflicts with an earlier one, and full verbatim capture traceable to the respondent.

On the quantitative side it means screened and quota controlled sampling, trade-off and preference elicitation through ranking and constant-sum exercises, Van Westendorp for price sensitivity, monadic and sequential monadic concept testing, standard scales held consistent so waves compare, cross-tabs by segment, and significance reported with base sizes.

More detail on all of that lives on the platform page and in our research FAQ.

What happens after the study

This is the part that actually separates the two, and it is the part nobody demos.

With Conveo, the readout is the finish line. Then somebody rewrites the positioning, updates the personas doc, briefs the agency, rebuilds the battlecards, and writes the report. Four to six weeks of senior time that never appears on the invoice. In month five, another team asks a question this study already answered, and nobody can find it.

With Gather, the study is a deposit. It feeds a model that already knows your customers, and the model produces:

Plus the campaign work: thought leadership reports, blog and AEO content, PR kits, landing pages, ad creative, lifecycle email. You can see the shape of that output in our sample reports and the full Marketing Leaders 2026 study.

Pricing

Conveo does not publish pricing at time of writing. Expect a sales conversation and a custom quote.

Gather publishes:

Plan Price What you get
B2B pilot $8,000 one time 100 real interviews, four weeks
B2B Starter $50,000 / year 650 credits
B2B Growth $100,000 / year 1,400 credits
B2B Scale $200,000 / year 3,300 credits
B2C pilot $8,000 one time 400 real interviews
B2C Starter $25,000 / year 1,250 credits
B2C Growth $50,000 / year 3,000 credits
B2C Scale $100,000 / year 7,000 credits
Customer Intelligence Model $25,000 assessment, then $100,000 / year 1,500 credits, model built, maintained, hosted

One credit is one real interview or four synthetic interviews. Additional credits come in $25,000 packages.

I publish this because I have been the buyer in this category and I hated not knowing whether I was in the right ballpark before taking three calls.

Frequently asked questions

Is Gather better than Conveo?

Not in the abstract, and I would not trust anyone who says otherwise about their own product. Conveo is genuinely better if you need consumer insights teams that need qual depth at panel scale and your team already handles strategy and content. Gather is better if you need the research to compound into a model several teams can query, and you want the assets generated rather than hand built.

What does Gather do that Conveo does not?

Three things. It keeps a Customer Intelligence Model post-trained on your corpus, so studies compound instead of expiring. It scores its own coverage and confidence per segment and question, and commissions research where it is thin. And it generates the six core strategy assets plus campaign-ready content and creative off that model.

What does Conveo do better than Gather?

AI-moderated qual at panel scale. That is real and I am not going to pretend otherwise. If that specific capability is the deciding factor for your team, buy Conveo.

How fast is a Gather study?

Hours to days rather than the four to twelve weeks a traditional agency cycle takes. Recruiting, moderating, and analysis run automatically, with research and design experts reviewing before it reaches you.

How much does Conveo cost compared to Gather?

Conveo does not publish pricing at time of writing, so you go through sales. Gather publishes: an $8,000 pilot, then $50,000 to $200,000 a year for B2B and $25,000 to $100,000 for B2C, with the Customer Intelligence Model at $25,000 for a four week assessment and $100,000 a year after.

Can we run both?

Yes, and some teams do during evaluation. Run one real question through both, compare the readouts and everything that comes after them, and decide from evidence rather than a demo.

What is a credit?

One credit is one real interview, or four synthetic interviews. Credits draw down across interviews and content generation, so you decide the mix as priorities change.
